YESSS....A NEW PRINTER!

Today was an exciting day for Downtown Paper & Press....I ordered a new Epson Stylus Pro R1900 printer! I was in desperate need of a new printer and after extensive research I think I'm going to be really happy with my final choice. I got an excellent deal at Staples...$100 off instantly, plus a $150 mail-in rebate, bringing the the total to $300 (reg. $550.00)!

ANTIQUE FINDS

Saturday Ryan (my husband) and I, made our rounds to a few antique stores and thrift shops in the area. We were in the market for some furniture in need of some TLC, and that's exactly what we found!

I got all three pieces of furniture for $30! (I apologize for the poor picture quality, they were taken with my phone) I thought the rocker was just adorable....it's pretty beat up, I'm going to refinish it but will probably keep it the deep cherry color that it already is, depending upon the fabric I find to recover the seat. I can't wait to post pictures of the final product!

LOGO FOR POSTCARDS

So I got word last week via a post on the Etsy forums that Overnight Prints was offering 100 free postcards....I thought it would be a perfect opportunity for an inexpensive mailing introducing Downtown Paper & Press to a decent amount of people in the community. Well, I waited until the last minute to get the logo done, but I magically made it just at the midnight deadline on Friday night for the promo pricing. This is what I came up with....

I'm thinking the mailing will be going out in March, so I wanted it to be really colorful and cheery for spring! I'm really happy with how they turned out and even more excited for the postcards to arrive.

WELCOME!

First and foremost, welcome to my blog! I have found myself for months spending countless hours lost in the talents of other bloggers out there, especially those in the design world....and thought to myself, I want to do that! So I came up with the Downtown Collection, a collaboration of some of my original work and the things that inspire me, both old and new.

A little about myself....I am the owner & designer of Downtown Paper & Press. I am in the process of starting an Etsy shop, so please check back often to see what's new! I create custom invitations, holiday & greeting cards, stationary and calling cards as well as business logos and other graphics. Correspondence is such a great outlet for growing strong relationships with people, and I'm so thankful God put the passion in my heart to find original and fun ways for people to express themselves to one another.

As devoted as I am to Downtown Paper & Press, I still have a "real" job...a job that I am very grateful to have. I love that I get the opportunity to come in contact with so many genuine people on a daily basis. I've had some bad jobs, and this is not one!

I am the oldest sibling of four, a wife of one amazing husband, and daughter of two wonderful parents. I can thank my mom and my grandma for my obsession with all things pretty, two truly classy women who, very simply put, know how to style themselves and their homes. There are about a million things I would like to learn how to do, and if I had to choose one person to teach me, I would choose Martha Stewart.

I hope you enjoy the "collection."
